There’s a weird voyeuristic energy to The Lovemakers xxxtravaganza. You sort of feel like you’re peeking into someone’s bedroom and seeing two people just going at it ferociously. Then you realize there’s another dude in the room, and he’s sort of leering at the couple, too. Creepy or sexy? You decide. The electronic dance renaissance music is almost secondary to the wild show that real life couple Scott Blonde and Lisa Light put together with their bandmate Jason Proctor. The sexual energy pulses from Proctor’s frenzied synth work and Macintosh beats. Light prances around singing with all her might into the mic, usually in her underwear. Blonde glistens on the guitar, usually shirtless and writhing from the tension in the air. And then rather spontaneously, the couple will make out mid-song with Blonde not missing a single note. As Ali G’s Borat character would say, "Sexy time explosion, anyone?" The Oakland, CA, band is on tour with She Wants Revenge.
