Dear Loyal Loosers,

What is going on? Why hasn't the site been updated? What bands did Loose catch at CMJ? Which ones did you love? Which ones did you hate? Why hasn't Jay mentioned me in his blog in over two weeks? I want answers!

Well folks, we have answers. First and foremost, Loose Record will be taking a vacation from its normal updating schedule while we focus on a redesign. Yes, soon there will be a fresh new Loose that will not only improve in content, but also in speed! We agree with you in advance, we know we've been dragging a bit lately, but we now have some new talent and big ideas that will surely liven things up.

What would you like to see more of? Less of? We want to know what you have to say and can't wait to hear all of the strange little things that go on in your heads. Feel free to email us at info@looserecord.com.

Secondly, we have some bittersweet news for all of you. Belin has pulled a Belin on us. The Loose-hosted blog Good Times Roll is closing up shop. Its author, the notorious Jay Belin, has begun a new chapter in his life working for The Bowery Presents and will no longer be providing us with our daily dose of rock goodness and margarita hot-spots. We are all extremely proud of this young chap, so if you see him around be sure to slap him in the ass and buy him a tequila shot for all of his hard work and dedication.

And lastly, the Loose CMJ feature will be on the site today. Check it out, read what we have to say, view our lovely photos, and tell us what you thought of this years Marathon.

Ok, thats it for now. We'll keep you posted on our progress, and always remember to...

Keep it Loose.

Win Tickets to See the Annuals (TOMORROW!) and win a Limited Edition 7"

Thank you Ace Fu. You've done it again. If you, on some off chance, missed this quirky six-piece from North Carolina while they shook us around at CMJ, or while they opened for Art Brut, or last week when they played Bowery with Voxtrot, then you definately should not miss the Annuals tomorrow night at the Mercury Lounge. This will be your last chance to catch them before they head to Europe to play with the Flaming Lips.

Still not convinced? Have a listen to the track Brother.

Ok, now you're convinced. As a gift to you, Loose is giving away:

-A pair of tickets to see the Annuals at the Mercury Lounge on Thursday, November 16th.

-A limited run 7" with hand-screened art (only 1000 produced!)

To enter the contest for a pair of tickets and the 7", simply send an email to contests@looserecord.com with the Annuals in the subject. Make sure your full name is included in the body of the email. We will randomly pick out a winner and contact them tomorrow with details. Good luck!

Loose Record Wants (*cough* Needs *cough*) You!!!

As we stare down the barrel of another New Year, Loose Record is facing the fact that we are growing and want to invite you to grow with us. There are a few tricks planned for 2007 that we have tucked firmly up our sleeves, but in order to make them a reality we need your help. We are looking for passionate folks who love music to contribute in various fashions - words, programming, photos and internships. The first three are self - explanatory so if you’d like to contribute please send an email telling us something about yourself along with a sample of your work. If you’d like to explore the option of interning with Loose, please send an email explaining what and where you’re studying, your thoughts on the site and whether or not you can receive credit for this unpaid internship. Please direct your emails accordingly.

Also, we are looking for someone in the mix who has mad MySpace skills. We’d love to beef up our game and get one of those fancy pages with sparkles and dancing unicorns. If you’ve perfected the arty of MySpace’n than drop a line to the “writers” email and let us know. You’ll be rewarded with records, mad interweb props and various servicing from the infamous Josh Builder, (don’t worry – he swings both ways). Thanks in advance for your interest!
