The event will be held at 8pm on July 10 at the Hiro Ballroom and proceeds from each piece of art sold will go to New York Cares, a leading volunteer organization that helps the city’s most disadvantaged residents.
The hilarious Zach Galifianakis will curate the Bad Art show and auction. The comedian, who hails from North Carolina, has appeared on shows including “David Letterman,” “Conan O’Brien,” “Jimmy Kimmel,” and “Wondershowzen,” as well as on the big screen in “Corky Romano,” “Bubble Boy,” “Out Cold,” and more.
Band of Horses, which formed in 2004, will provide the musical entertainment. Formed in 2004, the band toured with Iron and Wine and Okkervil River in 2005 before recording their debut full-length album, Everything All the Time, with producer Phil Ek at Seattle’s Avast studios.
The New York by New York event series is an experiment in six parts, featuring the magazine collaborating with bands, D.J.'s, vegan chefs, comedians, and underqualified art auctioneers on an event a month (six in all) through the fall. Each $30 ticket includes a one-year subscription to New York magazine and can be purchased at
