Let's Go Away For Awhile.

Light that shit. Smoke that shit.

- Summer vacation? We don't need no summer vacation. In the wake of the fallen Lollapaloser tour, Wayne and the rest of the Flaming Lips are taking their show to the studio. Blood and bubbles will not be permitted. Wayne still wants to sing happy birthday to Rock n' Roll.

- AC/DC is still trucking. Twenty-four years after the release of their debut album, Back in Black, the RIAA has awarded the record with its second diamond status, (meaning it's sold over 20 million copies). Thats ridiculous.

- NME has reported that Jack White took some time to dig up the past. He spoke out about the Jason Von Bondie incident as well as his accident that occured while getting road head from Renee, (or something like that). The entire transcript can be found here. Jack also said that George Roca would lose an arm if he isn't careful.

- Wait a second. Pitchfork doesn't like the new Killers record? Who would have thunkit? With statements like these: "The Killers are just the latest band to be born too quick inside the popular music vacuum, where expectations for broad accessibility kill dudes' potential for deeper creativity quite fabulously dead." I'm beginning to think their cleft assholes have relaxed a hair.

- The little boys are all growns up. Hanson released their new record independently. This shows a lot of balls by the three young girls, but it begs the question... Who gives a rats ass? It is quite a feat and a risky endeavor for the three lads who are best know for their song about nothing (MMMMBop) that may may get covered by Barenaked Ladies if they ever want to make a comeback. That would be cooler than Limp Dicksit covering George Michael just to get noticed.

- Looks like I've got some homework. The new Libertines record has (surprise!) leaked to the online community. I'm not for this type of thing (I'm abstaining from hearing Interpol until its out), but since I love the Libertines (almost as much as Beach) I'm going to have to make an exception.

- Hey punks! Read this.

Holiday weekend update coming this afternoon.

Beach Says....The Libertines rock as much as Hall & Oates do while they are sleeping....

about the article from popmatters: i like audrey lim and i've always thought she's a decent columnist (having read her works here and elsewhere). however, she's clearly a self-loather and her articles always unravel the same way. they start off angry about hip culture with arguments she anchors in cultural studies gospel (that she labels philosophy, which it's not) and provides a happy ending for us all to feel good about. while this column is better than most in that she sticks to her guns and provides no happy ending, she's still a pissed off smart person that's too cool for the hip culture she obsesses about. she's a performative contradiction, but a smart one and clearly an impressive writer. scat turdly

Tis true scat. Tis true. She does show the same linear fashion in most of her columns, but this one just seemed to fall closer to home. The only problem I find with this is who does she align with? She straddles the line and avoids being the pissed off Hip(withoutbeinghip) person, but don't you get that feeling anyway? prose is a bitch... my bitch.
