Never Test Her Will.

It's seems all to often that I need to ask forgiveness. Double that if we are talking about women only. Today I an obvious apology is in order for Mother Nature. After doubting her conviction yesterday she dumped about 7" of snow on the city and made my morning commute across town a bit undesirable. So I'm sorry. Are you happy now?

Good Things Can Happen in the Snow.

Dying of boredom yesterday, I had resigned to crashing out early. I cooked myself some dinner, read the Times and watched the New Hampshire Primary results. 10pm was approaching when I got a call from Sivan. Finally, contact with the outside. I talked her into cruising over to Sin-e with me to catch Dennis Cahlo's set.

The 3 block trek took longer than usual because there was already a few inches of the white stuff on the ground. We met outside the club. Once we were in there we waited for Joanaspolicewoman to play, but her changeover took way to long so we headed back out into the cold for a brief snowball fight. The victory was mine, but Sivan still got some good shots in. It was fun, but my gloveless hands were about to fall off so we scooted back in to warm up with a PBR.

We ran into Jen from Flavorpill who managed to be my list liaison for the evening. She lined it up early with Dennis, so I wouldn't have any trouble. Joan was 3 songs into her set. I really didn't listen to her band because Jen, her friends and I were chatting each other up. Jen almost kicked this dudes ass. It was amazing. He told her to be quiet and she told him to fuck off. Then an argument ensued. It was hilarious. Jen, an always overly affectionate x-hippie, was giving this guy all she had until he eventually responded to her taunts by leaving the club. She is a new hero of mine.

So Sivan and I found a corner at the bar and settled in for another fantastic set by Dennis. His songs are extremely warm and reflective. As I've said before the kid has a nack for live performance. His charisma and sharp looks make for an eye-catching show that is put over the top by his ability to command attention, (unless you are one of the assholes in the back talking way to loud). I finally got to see his cover of Interpol's NYC which did the song great justice. For his final tune, he hit the keys and lulled us with a cover of a cover of a cover.

Following the Realistics front man was Aurelio Valle of Calla. I managed to catch the first couple of songs which left me impressed, but not able to form a decent opinion. Sivan introduced me to Kristen Mueller of the Caulfield Sisters and the Hidden Driveways. We talked about all things New Jersey, O.C. and B-side. She is a drummer for her bands but earlier this evening she flexed her singer songwriter muscles.

We took off near the end of Valle's set and called it an evening. I went to bed late in hopes of a University Snow Day. No such luck.

All This News is Shite.

This is great. Johnny Rotten is humping the dream. Check out the pictures. I need to see this show.

Mick Collins and the Dirtbombs get more solid coverage in the new Voice.

Like I've said before, the Darkness are hitting the states, but are skipping New York. I'm trying to do something about this.

In more tour news, the Sounds get ready to do a major U.S. tour with Kill Hanna and IMA Robot.

Ryan Adams recounts his plunge. This made me a bit sick.

I didn't see this coming. Pitchfork gives Phantom Planet's new reocrd a decent review. I've gotta get a damn copy.

The new Elmore Leonard book turned to film is reviewed by the A.V. Club. It sounds as though The Big Bounce is poised for a big flop.

Clem Snide puts out a record with some covers that my prompt me to buy it.

Blah Blah Blah. Nothing new is good anymore. Air puts out a record, but you know I don't listen to it. I might die my hair black and pick-up the Get Up Kids new record.

The Times takes a minute with the Flatlanders who are playing a gig tonight at the Bowery. These boys aim to please with their style of country while playing the hits both old and new, (if you look at the picture, yes, thats Smokey from The Big Lebowski).

A new review of an old show. Spin tackles the first night of the Strokes MSG stand in October. Are they fishing for content? I have a review of the Siren Festival they might want consider.

Nothing to interesting, but I'll try to step it up later.
