Christina Mercando's email autosignature lists her job as Web Master. Note the space, note the capitalization. Christina is no lowly webmaster. A native New Yorker, she claims to be constantly in search of the best of both worlds, which any Kevin Smith fan knows is nothing more than hermaphroditic porn. What it means to Christina is beyond us, but we're pretty sure it ties into two of her listed hobbies - art and nerds.

Publisher Mina K loves beef. And robots. And Kim Gordon. After hours of head-scratching, we've yet to make the connection between the three, but maybe that's for the best. If you want to find Mina, she'll be on her roof at 4am, drinking and judging the shit out of you. In a good way. And probably composing a 6-part synth chord to go with the garage-rock song she's writing. Or maybe it's a folk tune. She's been in bands and once killed a man just to watch him die. Emotionally speaking. But he still apologized later because it was, after all, 99% his fault.

Loose Record is a web-based publication focusing on live independent music. Through the rigorous collection of music related intelligence and the occasional need to hold our feet to the fire, our team pumps out meaningful content and valuable live show information you can count on.

Loose Record is a New York City based publication, but our aim is inclusion. Wherever good music is being created, we'll be there. That's our promise. With your help we can break down geographical barriers to bring the best music to the masses.

The notion behind Loose Record was hatched on a sweaty day in Brooklyn during the summer of 2003. Jay Belin and Noah Champion took the first stab at making this website a reality. They underestimated the intense attention needed for a project of this magnitude so the idea was put to rest. In the late summer months of 2004, a Scottish gent by the name of Graeme Rutherford resurrected Loose Record from the annex bin. He provided the first visual for the website which ultimately lit a fire under Jay and Josh Builder hurling them and their friends into the world of web publication.

This is a tough question. Why take on a project like this? The answer is we truly care about the taste of the listening public. Without your help, our collective artistic outlet could be swallowed by big business and be lost to the Usher's and Spears' of tomorrow. We don't want that to happen; do you?
