I'd Call It A "Preview" But This Ain't A Negotiation: Peter Adams Live
Back in 2005, I wrote a highly-conceptual, overly idealistic feature on Peter Adams for the once brilliant, now defunct, TheUglyCouch.com. The picture to your left is not that feature. Mine was way more conceptual and probably a lot worse. Adams, I reasoned, was everything that was right with independent music. He recorded in his house, played all the instruments, and created these massive arrangements with strings and blips and (according to him) a bunch of other crazy shit thrown in there. And, it was good. It was very good. There were problems. He was young. He lived in Ohio. And he was representing himself. No label was stepping up to promote what had to be one of the more talented instrumentalists under the age of 24 not named Zach Condon. In essence, I wrote, "what the fuck?" Where are our priorities if this kid slips through the cracks?
But, two years later much of this has changed. Labels notice. Big ones even. Adams has a second record all but finished and ready to be just as big, rich, and intimate as the first one, The Spiral Eyes. And now he's playing shows in New York. So, join us, won't you?Peter Adams:
