Preview: Ted Leo/Pharmacists at McCarren Park Pool [Brooklyn, 08.12.07]

Us New Yorkers who don't summer in the Hamptons or on the Cape are lucky to have another (far cheaper) weekend hotspot where we can go to see and be seen. Yes, for us, the enormous empty pool in Brooklyn's McCarren Park is the place to be, and if you can pull your attention away from that cute gal running towards the Slip n' Slide or the handsome fellow at the end of the beer line, you'll notice that there also happen to be top notch bands and DJ's performing on the massive stage at the epicenter of the concrete playground.

This weekend we're treated to the ebullient energy of Ted Leo and the Pharmacists who, along with The Thermals and Birds of Avalon will be pounding through rock anthems catchy enough to distract you from even the most unfortunate of fashion choices in the crowd. Those who've been lucky enough to catch Ted Leo in the past know that when he gets on stage, the man is a non-stop blur of raw, positive, steadfast rock and roll energy. He'll be sweaty enough for all of us, this I am sure of.
