Preview: Film School at The Bottom of the Hill [San Francisco, CA, 08.15.07]

Film School is playing their hometown of San Francisco, August 15th at the Bottom of the hill at 9PM. This has to be the beginning of a new tour, for their new album Hideout, which comes out 9/11/07. This one has to be better than their last. Not because they weren't great, from what I saw, it was remarkable how they managed to capture the album sound perfectly. They are that nostalgic, but at the same time, updated 90's sound. Like Interpol, they're taking the best parts from that period and making it all sound familiar but new, in a slightly shoegaze/blonde redhead way. 'He's a DeepDeep Lake' is the biggest epic sound that kills me every time.
But more amazing than that was that they did it with borrowed instruments! The night before their equipment was stolen in Philly, and I really was convinced the show was going to be canceled. Amazingly I don't think anyone could even tell the difference. I had to keep imagining how they created the sound so easily with the opening bands equipment.
To be thrown like that in the middle of a tour, I don't know how they did it.
I would be pissed and depressed and want to go home after losing my Ipod...
But I'm sure they are trying to put all this behind them, and I don't want to jinx it. It can't happen again.
It's only $10 and Pela and The Union Trade are opening.
